The actor previously joked that he'd rather 'slash his wrists' than play 007 again.
According to Page Six, Craig was finally convinced to step into 007’s again. After seemingly endless back-and-forth, Craig has finally succumbed to the wishes of 007 producer Barbara Broccoli and will reprise the role in two forthcoming films – the first of which will be released in November 2019.
"There was plenty of talk about who would be the next Bond but Barbara has managed to talk Daniel into two more films," a source revelaed in The Sun. The tabloid also claims that the second of Craig's two new Bond films could be a remake of On Her Majesty's Secret Service, which starred the one-Bond-wonder George Lazenby, and saw Bond settle down and marry Diana Rigg's Tracy Di Vicenzo.
Craig is currently the second-longest serving Bond in history having officially starred as the spy for over 11 years.
"During interviews at the Spectre premiere in 2015 we learnt that Daniel was debating the offer, but from what he told us -media- during the premiere, I knew he would do at least one more Bond film and I said it at the time," commented celebrity photographer Joe Alvarez. Yes, being James Bond is a VERY hard job and its something that you need to mull carefully whilst counting your millions.
The on-set injuries the actor has incurred during the James Bond shooting include bruised ribs, sliced off top of finger - thanks to Quantum of Solace, a knee injury during Spectrum. Daniel Craig needed eight stitches on his face during shooting for Quantum of Solace. During the same period, Craig tore muscle on his shoulder and had to undergo ‘reconstruction' of the entire shoulder, according to actor himself. The soon-to-be-longest-serving James Bond lost two of his teeth during the shooting for Casino Royale.
It doesn’t surprise us then, that Daniel Craig was in two minds about the shooting for the next James Bond. However, it didn’t fool me. With the stunts becoming more breathtaking in each film, the injuries are becoming more serious. We hope he will come out in one piece after the next James Bond.
Last week saw The Mirror claim that the forthcoming movie will be based on the 2001 novel Never Dream of Dying by Raymond Benson, which saw Bond face off against a blind villain, and fall for a movie star married to a member of a crime organisation known as The Union.
