On the last day of January, the mighty beauty conglomerate announced the winners of the prestigious Johnson & Johnson Beauty Journalism Awards 2018 following a champagne-fueled reception at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.
There doesn’t seem to be lack of ‘beauty influencers’ and ‘vloggers’ at events and awards. The Johnson & Johnson Beauty Journalism Awards, on another hand, celebrate good journalism and reporting. It must be said, journalists are often overlooked by some beauty brands. The PR firms’ first go-to option are often bloggers due to the guaranteed positive reviews. As bloggers tend not to be journalists, they just promote everything they receive in a hysterically positive light.
Johnson & Johnson recognise the value of great reporting and that it’s getting harder to navigate through the abundance of reviews and opinions dressed as impartial reporting – both online and in publications. Johnson & Johnson is celebrating great storytelling and reporting in beauty since 2014.
This year saw a refreshed look and feel for the awards including 12 new categories which recognised the best in health & beauty storytelling across print and digital platforms. A respected panel of judges comprised of leading beauty editors and industry specialists including the likes of Anna- Marie Solowij, Thuy Le and Em Ford, were selected for their individual expertise to select the final winners.
