Don’t we all love upmarket gourmet tapas restaurants? The famous Spanish ‘petit’ sharing platters are excellent both for friends’ get-together, solo outing, or romantic date. The new gourmet tapas restaurant opened its doors to customers in the heart of Victoria. Omar’s Place is owned by restaurateur Omar Shaaban. With four restaurants under his belt in Egypt, Omar’s Place is his first London restaurant.
For his new venture, Omar, born and raised in London, has teamed up with renowned Spanish chef Vincente Fortea.
The gourmet menu is both aesthetically pleasing and delicious – it took Vincente Fortea over a year to refine the menu of Omar’s Place. And it was time well spent. In the meantime, Omar was working hard to refurbish the old pub into a cosy ‘high-end’ restaurant. Everything from furniture to every tapas plate, Ikon London Magazine was told, is specially made for the restaurant.

There were no cut corners when it comes to the selection of food either. The menu includes crunchy trotters bursting with flavours, smoky and spicy chorizo wrapped in gold leaf, beetroot merengue with foie gras, crunchy squid and caramelised sugar chip with truffles, delicious beef fillet tartar with capers, watercress and quails egg yolk on top. All dishes a carnival of taste. The head chef did a great job in combining intricate sweet and yet savoury tastes in one sitting. Fresh gourmet produce came together crafted beautifully by chef Vincente Fortea. Be prepared for your taste buds to be put to the test with full flavours of Spanish culinary masterpieces.
The restaurant is well worth visit. Opening times 11am-11pm 7 days a week.
