paparazzi in the space of little more than a week. In the first incident, outside City Hall in New York, he shoved a photographer who he claimed had "assaulted" him with his camera. The following week he grabbed a photographer by the arm and accused him of harassing a neighbour, calling him "a little girl".

Chris Martin

In 2003, Coldplay frontman became frustrated with a paparazzo trailing him while on a tour of Australia. He waited until the photographer concerned left his car to take a break, then slashed his tyres and smashed his windshield.

Rhys Ifans

The Notting Hill actor was arriving at the Wolseley in London in 2007 with then girlfriend Sienna Miller when the attentions of a waiting photographer prompted him to lash out. In 2008 he apologised to paparazzi near his home for behaving like a "c---" to them during the dying days of his relationship with the actress, but that did not stop him spoiling for a fight on a number of further occasions, including with a videotaped rant while on a date with Kimberly Stewart in 2011.

Liam Gallagher

The former Oasis start has had so many altercations with paparazzi that it's difficult to pick just one. On one notorious occasion in 2001, the wild man of rock and roll celebrated the birth of his second child with Nicole Appleton by punching a photographer stationed outside the hospital.

Brian Harvey

In 1997 the East 17 star dealt with a photographer stationed outside his father's wedding in Broxbourne with a sharp right hook. It wasn't to be his only run-in with the press - the following year snapper Reinaldo Vargas was rushed to hospital after a fight outside a London nightclub during which he claimed the boyband member "kicked my head like it was a football", according to the Daily Record.

Lee Ryan

In 2002 Ryan, of boyband Blue, jumped on a photographer outside the London celebrity hangout Chinawhite. The Mirror later claimed it was part of a pretend attack staged to get press attention as his career declined.

Jay Kay

The Jamiroquai singer ended up with a broken nose in 2002 after he was headbutted by a photographer following a London premiere. The snapper, Alan Grisbrook, claimed Jay Kay had previously punched him after mistakenly accusing him of damaging his car. The singer later jibed on stage: "The great thing about being a pop star is you can afford a good nose job."

Daniel Ramos' lawyer says she is worried that Kanye West's alleged attack on the photographer could give a green light to further celebrity-paparazzi scuffles. But judging by our list of the top celeb-pap standoffs, it doesn't look like they need it...

Colin Farrell

In 2009, the Irish actor was on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival in Canada when snappers began shouting at his sister Claudine to move out of the way. Farrell immediately leapt to her defence, pointing his finger at photographer Joe Alvarez and grabbing him by the scruff of the neck until he apologised to the celebrity's sibling. Alvarez said later: "If I had known it was his sister I would not have said it. Or just been more careful".

In my defence, we had all asked the woman in question to move a few times, as she was completely in the way, looking like a fish out of water and in the middle of the red carpet stopping us from doing our lawful job. She was totally obstinate. Every time I have asked people to move -politely- in those scenarios they have. I was invited to cover the Toronto Film Festival and fully accredited. Thus not a 'paparazzo' as such. There is a difference. In the end Colin and I made up 3 days later and all was well. Amen. That's showbiz folks!

Lily Allen

In 2004 the British singer tussled with photographer Sylvia Linares outside the Wardour Club in London, grabbing the snapper's camera and pulling at it until bodyguards stepped in to put an end to the scuffle.
