Monte Carlo World Music Awards 2014

One Direction, Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey and Han Geng win big at this years World Music Awards.

Monte-Carlo Rocked last night with a horde of Superstars from all over the World.

One Direction, Miley Cyrus, and Chinese Superstar Han Geng were the big Winners of the Night with Mariah Carey who received the Icon Award and a special Award for being the Best-selling Singles Artist in America.

Miley Cyrus collected Awards for Worlds Best Female Artist Award, Worlds Best Pop Rock Artist, Best and Worlds Best Video. Chinese Superstar Han Geng who has just finished Transformers 4 coming out in June was voted World Best Male Artist by 20 Million fans on the official world music awards website!

One Direction were named Best-selling Recording Act of the year having sold more records than any other Artist. They also won Worlds Best Pop Act, Best Group and Best British Act!

Imagine Dragons won Best Rock Act and Lorde Best New Artist, best Alternative Artist and Best Australasian Act.

The show opened with a dazzling performance from Mariah Carey who received the Icon Award from the Producer and Artist Jermaine Dupruy.

Jason Derulo hosted the show with Pamela Anderson -who looked like she had slept in a field after a night on the tiles- and performed a knockout medley of his new smash hit “Wriggle” and “Talk Dirty”.

Belgian Superstar Stromae received 2 Awards for Best Benelux Artist and best-selling European Singer having sold nearly 3 million Albums! Stromae gave a very passionate redering of “Formidable”.

French duo Daft Punk won Best-selling EDM Artist of the year but were unable to accept their Award in person.

Ricky Martin collected the Latin Legend Award and performed his Fifa Song and Flo Rida treated the audience to a Medley of his greatest hits!

The show ended on a high with a powerful vocal performance by Miley Cyrus of Wrecking Ball accompanied by just a piano.

The World Music Awards will be aired primetime in America on NBC Network and 4 Music will air it in the UK. The show will be syndicated in 180 other networks reaching a billion viewers.

Best female as voted on by fans Miley Cyrus. No surprise there. It is an utter shame then that Miley FAILED to attend the media photocall with her awards. I fail to see how talent refuse at times to do press after an awards ceremony covered by the press! Mariah Carey was another no show after inviting us all -media- to attend the launch of her new single ‘Me. I am.

Mariah’ -yes, really that’s the name of it. Having kept us waiting for almost 2 hours, AND re-arranging the press call time, delaying the whole AWARDS, she refused to attend. Yep, she cancelled the whole thing without giving reasons. The air turned blue, in Mariah’s appraisal of her cancellation. Her own TV crew, and security were shaking their heads. They were there longer than us. You are NOT allowed to ask any questions to her either. She has talent lets face it, but being arrogant and thoroughly unprofessional in her dealings with the media -and many other people rumour has it- doesn’t win her new fans or respect by professionals. She WAS in the building, and in a good mood at the awards when I saw her during the awards. So why cancel her OWN single launch? Is it THAT bad? Time will tell.
