Art on a Postcard—the innovative fundraising platform known for turning small artworks into major charitable impact—has announced its final Winter Auction in aid of The Hepatitis C Trust.

Running from 30 September to 14 October 2025, the online auction will be accompanied by a short in-person exhibition at The Bomb Factory, Marylebone.Founded in 2014, Art on a Postcard has spent the past decade inviting leading contemporary artists to create original works on postcard-sized canvases—sold anonymously, with all proceeds going to the Trust’s campaign to eliminate hepatitis C in the UK by 2030.

Now, after 11 years and hundreds of thousands of pounds raised, the project’s final large-scale postcard auction marks the end of an extraordinary chapter in charity-led collecting.

What began as a one-off charity auction has grown into a much-anticipated annual event on the London art calendar. Participating artists have included Grayson Perry, Damien Hirst, Julian Opie, Lubaina Himid, and Marina Abramović, among hundreds of others.

By offering works anonymously and starting bids at just £50, Art on a Postcard has made it possible for anyone to own work by world-class artists—removing the gallery markup and levelling the playing field for collectors.

This year’s farewell edition is no exception. A compelling lineup of emerging and established artists has been brought together by five guest curators: art critic Tabish Khan, curator and writer Debbie Meniru, art consultant Lily Ackerman, AOAP favourite Andrew Torr, and cultural producer Ryan Lanji.

Among the highlights from Tabish Khan’s selection are works by abstract artist Rana Begum RA, British painter Morag Caister, and multimedia artist Liorah Tchiprout, known for her intimate figurative works inspired by Jewish folklore. Debbie Meniru’s curatorial choices include Liberian-British multidisciplinary artist Lina Iris Viktor, ceramicist Lindsey Mendick, and Phoebe Boswell, whose work explores bodies of water as sites of both trauma and renewal.

Ackerman, founder of Ackerman Studios, brings together names such as Bruce McLean, Amy Judd, Maria Rivans and Hormazd Narielwalla. Andrew Torr’s line-up includes urban landscape painter Mandy Payne, contemporary realist Jen Orpin, and Lisa Ivory, whose work explores themes of Otherness and duality. Ryan Lanji’s curation features acclaimed photographer Sunil Gupta, award-winning artist Sarah Maple, and Jagjit Chuhan, whose depictions of women in domestic interiors explore the tensions between home and unhome.

The full artist list spans disciplines and generations, from RA members to emerging talent, with contributions from Dike Blair, Darren Reid, Julian Opie, and recent Royal Academician Sikelela Owen, whose work often explores themes of intimacy and community.

The auction will be open to the public for one day only at The Bomb Factory on Saturday 27 September, ahead of the online sale via Givergy. With bidding expected to be lively, the auction offers a final chance for collectors—seasoned and new alike—to acquire original artworks while supporting a public health effort nearing its goal.

“Eleven years in, Art on a Postcard has become more than a fundraising tool—it’s a way to discover great artists and own quality work without the gallery markup. The best part? It supports a cause close to me,” says Art on a Postcard founder Gemma Peppe.

The project has also played a role in raising awareness of hepatitis C at a crucial time. Once considered a silent epidemic, the virus is now on track for elimination in the UK thanks to widespread access to new treatments and years of work by grassroots organisations like The Hepatitis C Trust.

“When I first joined The Hepatitis C Trust, I’d just failed a brutal year of treatment and was told there were no options left,” Peppe adds. “Now, 12 years post-cure, with a 97% success rate for new treatments, hepatitis C is becoming a solvable problem.

“This project proves that art can drive real change—not just in collectors’ homes, but in people’s lives.”

As Art on a Postcard draws its Winter Auction series to a close, it does so having helped reshape both the landscape of accessible art and the narrative around a once-stigmatised illness.
