A one-day Salon Privé concours will line Knightsbridge with 25 classic and modern cars — from Ferrari and McLaren to a reimagined Rolls-Royce — on Saturday 11 April

For one day this weekend, Sloane Street trades traffic for something far more interesting. On Saturday 11 April, the Salon Privé Sloane Street Concours turns the stretch between Harriet Street and Cadogan Place into a free, open-air display of 25 cars — a mix of rare classics and their modern counterparts, placed directly along the pavement with no barriers and no ticketing. You don’t need to book, you don’t need to know anything about cars — just walk it. Cars that would usually sit behind ropes at concours events — or not be seen at all — are brought out into the street and set among the shopfronts.

The theme is “Old vs New”, but it is less about comparison than proximity. There is plenty here for those who do know what they are looking at. A Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder appears alongside a McLaren F1 GTR and a Maserati MC12 GT1. Nichols Cars presents the N1A, designed by Steve Nichols, whose work includes the dominant McLaren-Honda MP4/4. Automotive Artisans shows the R33, a modern interpretation of the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 Stradale, while Halcyon Cars brings an electrified Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible.

Other details are just as carefully placed. A 1961 Jaguar E-Type sits outside Jumeirah Carlton Tower. Displays run past Hermès and Bottega Veneta. The setting — recently redesigned as a greener, more pedestrian-friendly boulevard — gives the whole thing space to breathe.

“Several of the cars are typically only seen within private collections or concours settings,” says Andrew Bagley, chairman and co-founder of Salon Privé. “This is a rare opportunity for the public to encounter them in a relaxed and unexpectedly intimate setting.”

It is also, quietly, a preview. Salon Privé London follows days later at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.

Saturday 11 April, 11am–5pm. Free. Sloane Street, Knightsbridge.
