Cult sketch duo Mr Thing return with a multimedia comedy variety show full of TV-style hijinks, games, music, and seasonal mayhem
If you’re after a Christmas night out that’s a little wilder than your usual seasonal show, The Christmas Thing is back at Seven Dials Playhouse from 2–20 December 2025, with press night on 3 December. Part live variety show, part chaotic TV special, it transforms the theatre into a makeshift broadcast studio, complete with live cameras, video sketches, music, games, and surprise guests.
Created and performed by long-time collaborators Tom Clarkson and Owen Visser, the show channels the spirit of classic festive television specials — think Morecambe & Wise, The Muppet Show, and Noel’s House Party — while injecting gleeful anarchy and audience participation. Props conspire against performers, gadgets misbehave, and the audience becomes the live studio crowd for a night of unpredictable, interactive entertainment.
Following a successful 2024 London run and multiple acclaimed appearances at the Edinburgh Fringe, Mr Thing bring a blend of finely tuned craft and chaotic fun that has drawn praise from critics and audiences alike. Reviewers have called it “chaotic, colourful, and completely Christmassy”, “delightfully wholesome”, and “silly, surprising, and sure to make even the biggest Scrooge smile”.
Whether you’re a die-hard Christmas fan or just in the mood for some holiday mischief, this is the perfect show to pull on your favourite Christmas jumper, maybe grab a mulled wine or two, and get ready for an evening of live entertainment that’s as unpredictable as it is joyful.
The Christmas Thing runs at Seven Dials Playhouse, Covent Garden, London, from 2–20 December 2025.
