Top models wearing gold wings and diamond-encrusted bras strutted the London catwalk on Tuesday in the first Victoria’s Secret annual lingerie show to be held in London, UK.
The event was billed as the US company’s most expensive ever with a price tag of $20 million (£13 million) and featured some of the world’s best-paid models including Brazil’s Adriana Lima.
Only the second time the show has been held outside the United States since 1995, the event began on a glamourous note with the so-called “Victoria’s Secret Angels” -the gorgeous- Behati Prinsloo in gilded wings.
London was chosen over Paris because of its “convergence” between fashion and music, according to marketing director Ed Razek.
“The show is seen in 192 countries, the show is seen by 500 million people. That is completely unique in the industry. No one does what we do,” Razek said.
British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran took to the stage to perform his hit “Thinking Out Loud” as models walked the catwalk in colourful outfits inspired by exotic destinations.
Should Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande ever give up their day job as singers then I reckon there would definitely be a place for them as Victoria’s Secret ‘Angels’.
Both US stars took to the catwalk to perform at the first ever Victoria’s Secret show in London and held their own against supermodels like Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio and Lily Aldridge.
Taylor oozed classy glamour as she flashed those never-ending pins in a matching babydoll number and peach gown.
As she sang her latest single ‘Blank Space’ she grabbed the hand of US model Lily Aldridge as she strutted her stuff down the catwalk in the latest VS underwear designs. Ariana Grande also took to the runway to perform in her trademark thigh-high boots and ponytail.
Ahead of the show she said: “They are dressing me up with the prettiest things. If only I could find some stilts because I’m only 5ft 2 and all those models are six feet.”
Supermodels Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima wore the most expensive items of underwear in the show at London’s Earls Court, which cost a whopping $2 million each (£1.3 Million).
