Step off the plane looking polished every time with these clever packing and wardrobe tips.

We’ve all been there: you arrive at your destination, unzip your suitcase, and find your carefully packed wardrobe looking like it survived a tumble dryer apocalypse. Luckily, clothing expert Noor de Swart, founder and CEO of Super Label Store, has shared four smart, travel-friendly tricks to keep your clothes looking crisp — no iron required.

1. Don’t overpack
Stuffing every inch of your suitcase may seem like a smart move, but it’s a quick way to set wrinkles in stone. “Clothes packed too tightly have no room to breathe, so every crease becomes set,” de Swart explains.

Instead, leave a little space between garments, and consider using packing cubes — loose, sorted by fabric type. Keep wrinkle-prone fabrics like linen away from heavy items like denim. For formalwear, choose pieces with stretch or structure; they hold up better in transit and need less fiddling on arrival.

2. Wear your bulkiest items in transit
Winter coats, chunky scarves, and heavy boots are suitcase culprits. Save space — and your sanity — by wearing these items while traveling. “Layer strategically,” says de Swart. “You can remove a coat once you’re seated and even use it as a blanket or cushion. It stays smooth rather than squashed under your luggage.”

3. Pack smart for winter
Less can be more when it comes to winter layers. Lightweight merino wool or thermal base layers are warm, breathable, and crease-resistant. Limit bulky jumpers to one or two versatile pieces, and choose structured coats, trousers, and dresses with stretch or lining. Your outfits will survive the journey looking sharper—and you’ll travel lighter.

4. Shake, hang, and steam
A few minutes of care on arrival goes a long way. Hang your clothes straight from the suitcase and give them a gentle shake. Steaming them in a hot bathroom while you shower works wonders, especially for delicate fabrics. For extra control, pack a travel-size spray bottle to lightly mist garments — gravity and steam will do the rest.
