From women-only tours to no-fly journeys and hidden-city escapes, leading travel experts reveal the holidays set to shape 2026.
As travellers look ahead to 2026, some of the UK’s most respected industry voices are spotting clear shifts in how people want to explore. Insights from leading exhibitors at The Holiday & Travel Show — the UK’s longest-running travel event — point to immersive experiences, slower journeys, and under-the-radar destinations as key trends for next year.
Women-Only Holidays Evolve
Interest in women-only tours continues to grow, with a 28% increase year on year. Tim Williamson, Joint-Managing Director at Responsible Travel, explains that next year, these trips will go beyond single-sex departures. “Expect more in-depth itineraries celebrating and supporting local women,” he says. “Tours will foster connection between female travellers and local communities, support women entrepreneurs, and highlight women’s cultural identities.”
No-Fly Travel for Relaxed Journeys
Mature solo travellers are increasingly seeking calm, convenient alternatives to flying. Christina Hunter Locke, Head of Product & Commercial at One Traveller, points to rail itineraries across Europe and cruises departing directly from UK ports. “These options allow travellers to unpack once, enjoy the scenery, and move at a relaxed pace,” she says. “They offer a smoother travel experience for anyone preferring not to fly.”
Second-Tier City Breaks on the Rise
Overlooked destinations are gaining traction. Patrick Millar, Head of Marketing at Kirker Holidays, highlights cities such as Lisbon (+46%), Milan (+60%) and Verona (+92%), which are challenging traditional favourites like Rome, Venice, and Barcelona. These second-tier city breaks offer distinctive culture, fewer crowds, and fresh discoveries for travellers seeking something different.

These trends and more will be on display at The Holiday & Travel Show, returning in early 2026 to Manchester (15–18 January) and London (29 January–1 February). The show brings together the UK’s leading travel experts to showcase emerging trends, unique holiday ideas, and the destinations everyone will be talking about in 2026.
