The Devil Wears Prada extends its West End run to 2027
Fashion, music and plenty of attitude will stay at the Dominion Theatre for another year, with The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical now booking until September 2027.
The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical is extending its West End run at the Dominion Theatre, with performances now on sale until 25 September 2027.
The extension comes as London Fashion Week approaches and Runway prepares for some new leadership. Meanwhile, Matt Henry will remain in his FROW position as Nigel until February 2027.
Since opening in the West End in December 2024, the musical has become the fastest-selling show in the Dominion Theatre’s history, with more than 1.2 million tickets sold. It will reach another milestone on 23 September 2026, when it celebrates its 800th performance.
Fashion is very much part of the appeal. The production features more than £1.5 million worth of fashion, bringing together designer labels including Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Balmain, alongside vintage and second-hand pieces. British footwear designer Terry de Havilland, whose clients have included Elton John, has supplied more than 80 pairs of shoes for the production.
The musical also has a score by Elton John, with lyrics by singer-songwriters Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick, and a book by Kate Wetherhead. Jerry Mitchell directs and choreographs, with a creative team that includes set designer Tim Hatley, costume designer Gregg Barnes, lighting designer Bruno Poet and sound designer Gareth Owen.
The original cast recording was released last year and includes two previously unheard Elton John original demos. It reached number one on the new releases section of the compilations chart.
Based on Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling 2003 novel and the 2006 film, The Devil Wears Prada follows aspiring journalist Andy as she lands a job at the influential fashion magazine Runway, working for its formidable editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly. The job comes with impossible demands, designer clothes and a growing question about how much Andy is prepared to sacrifice to succeed.
The stage musical premiered at Theatre Royal Plymouth in summer 2024 before transferring to the West End. Its creative team brings together some substantial musical theatre credits, including Billy Elliot: The Musical, The Lion King, Kinky Boots, Legally Blonde, Suffs and Some Like It Hot.
The show is produced by Kevin McCollum, David Furnish and Jamie Wilson, in co-production with Theatre Royal Plymouth and presented by special arrangement with Buena Vista Theatrical.
