Kings Place has unveiled its 17th award-winning Unwrapped series for 2025, Earth Unwrapped: Sirens for a Wounded Planet. This year-long exploration will delve into humanity’s connection with nature, the climate crisis, and the art of listening through a vibrant program of music, spoken word, and innovative soundscapes. From intimate performances to large-scale sound installations, the series showcases the power of art to inspire action and reflection in the face of global environmental challenges.

Building on the success of previous series like the RPS Award-winning Venus Unwrapped, this season promises to be transformative. At its core, Earth Unwrapped aims to foster connection and dialogue, addressing urgent questions about humanity’s place in the natural world and offering audiences a chance to experience the healing power of creativity.

Highlights include a stellar lineup of Artists in Residence who push boundaries in their respective fields. Mercury Prize-nominated folk artist and conservationist Sam Lee takes audiences on a journey with performances like Songdreaming in the acoustically perfect Hall One and The Great Harvest Feast, a celebration of seasonal traditions through music and storytelling. Acclaimed sound artist Jason Singh brings immersive works such as Moonscales, an installation inspired by lunar cycles, and a live soundtrack to the 1929 silent documentary Drifters. Composer and producer Gazelle Twin, known for her bold, genre-defying creations, offers an innovative audio-visual production using cutting-edge sound technology.

The classical program celebrates humanity’s relationship with nature, from Terry Riley’s celestial Sun Rings, performed by the Sacconi Quartet, to Aurora Orchestra’s exploration of Mahler’s Das Lied von der Erde. Premieres include works by Erland Cooper (The Peregrine) and Julia Wolfe. Folk enthusiasts will delight in the annual Folk Weekend, themed around birdsong and avian-inspired melodies, featuring Peggy Seeger’s farewell London concert and new works by leading folk artists.

This is a season designed to provoke thought and nurture the soul, blending the arts with activism to create a powerful dialogue about our shared responsibility to the planet.

Tickets for the first wave of Earth Unwrapped events are now available, with prices starting at £10 and concessions offered. Visit kingsplace.co.uk for the full program and updates.
