On Saturday, 23 November, the spotlight shines on Take Me to the River, a collective of musicians, educators, and historians dedicated to preserving the vibrant musical traditions of Louisiana. Performing at the Barbican Centre, this group offers an exhilarating blend of genres that bridge the past and present, celebrating the soulful sounds of Louisiana for future generations.
The #MyLouisiana Series continues on Sunday, 24 November, with a Louisiana all-dayer at the Southbank Centre’s Clore Ballroom. Expect a rich tapestry of performances, including Orphy Robinson leading 50 amateur musicians in a specially composed suite, and the Joli Blon Cajun Project, delivering traditional Cajun French dance music. The celebration wraps up with a lively Louisiana Closing Party at Lafayette, headlined by the Grammy-winning Dirty Dozen Brass Band, whose infectious blend of brass band music, bebop, funk, and R&B will bring the house down.
