The iconic village whodunnit comes to the stage at Richmond Theatre and on a UK & Ireland tour.
The much-loved TV series Midsomer Murders makes its stage debut with The Killings at Badger’s Drift, bringing the cosy yet deadly mysteries of Midsomer to theatres across the UK and Ireland. The story begins when Emily Simpson, a well-loved spinster in the village of Badger’s Drift, is found dead. Her friend Lucy Bellringer suspects foul play and calls in DCI Tom Barnaby and Sergeant Gavin Troy to investigate, uncovering the hidden tensions, rivalries, and secrets of a seemingly idyllic village.
Daniel Casey, known from the television series, stars as DCI Barnaby, while James Bradwell plays Sergeant Troy. The ensemble cast includes Nathalie Barclay, Chandrika Chevli, John Dougall, Julie Legrand, Rupert Sadler, Chris Agha, and Rhîan Crowley-McLean, who bring the village residents to life in a mix of eccentric and familiar characters.
Directed by Guy Unsworth, the production features set and costume design by David Woodhead, lighting design by Matt Haskins, sound design by Ella Wahlström, and original music composed by Max Pappenheim. The creative team also includes Ginny Schiller CDG (casting director), Sarah Stacey (associate director), Suzy Barrett (wigs, hair and make-up supervisor), Katie Balmforth (props supervisor), and Matt Jones for GJPM Ltd (production manager). Costume supervision is provided by Bristol Costume Services.
Based on Caroline Graham’s original novel and the ITV television series produced by Bentley Productions in association with All3Media International, this stage adaptation brings a classic whodunnit to life, with the wit, suspense, and charm that has made Midsomer Murders a national favourite.
The Killings at Badger’s Drift opens at Richmond Theatre on Friday 24 October, running until 1 November, before continuing on a UK and Ireland tour through June 2026. Tickets are on sale now.
