Nova Maldives’ festive tree fuses local driftwood, artisanal ornaments, and island craft for a holiday display unlike any other.
This holiday season, Nova Maldives is redefining Christmas with a distinctly Maldivian twist. The resort’s festive theme, “Maldivian Magic – A Festive Fusion”, celebrates local artistry, tradition, and contemporary design, running from 21 December 2025 to 7 January 2026.
The centrepiece is a Christmas tree unlike any other. Crafted from coconut-palm cajon wood and accented with driftwood, it’s topped with a handcrafted neon Nova star made in Malé, symbolising the islands’ modern creativity. Traditional Maldivian lamps and warm ambient lighting echo the glow of evening gatherings, while coconut-shell ornaments nod to the centuries-old toddy-tapping tradition. Palm-woven boxes and lanterns around the base honour the islands’ heritage of weaving and craftsmanship.

Photo opportunities get an inventive twist, too. Canvas panels and circular motifs feature traditional Maldivian lacquer patterns and hand-drawn island designs, while a classic Maldivian swing adds a playful, cultural touch. Every detail transforms the resort into an immersive gallery of local heritage, inviting guests to celebrate the season creatively.
