A Spotify Wrapped–style travel recap that turns your year on the road into a story worth sharing

For anyone whose camera roll is mostly sunsets, boarding passes and plates of food eaten somewhere far from home, Polarsteps Unpacked might be the most satisfying end-of-year ritual yet.

Think Spotify Wrapped, but for travel. Launching this December, Polarsteps Unpacked turns your year on the road into a personalised highlight reel, pulling together every trip you logged in the app and presenting it as a story worth reliving. It shows how many days you actually spent travelling, how far you wandered from home, the most unique place you visited, and even your “travel personality”, generated using Polarsteps’ human-centred AI.

It’s designed to be explored slowly, then inevitably shared. Slides reveal the countries you visited, the furthest point you reached, the travel companions you clocked the most miles with, and the themes that defined your year. Whether you’re a serial city-hopper, a slow traveller, or someone who disappeared into nature whenever possible, the recap quietly pieces together what kind of traveller you really are.

Polarsteps, which is used by more than 18 million people worldwide and climbing the UK app charts, has built its reputation on helping travellers plan, track and relive their journeys without ads or noise. Trips can later be turned into printed Travel Books, which makes Unpacked feel less like a novelty and more like a digital memory box.

The launch arrives alongside Polarsteps’ Year in Travel 2025 report, which sheds light on how we’re travelling now. British travellers, it turns out, are Europe’s most enthusiastic sharers, with 44% posting public travel content. They’re also leading the way when it comes to AI-powered travel planning, with nearly a quarter already using AI tools for inspiration.

That context makes Unpacked feel timely. Travel isn’t just about where we went anymore, but how we document it, interpret it, and share it. Polarsteps Unpacked leans into that shift, offering a reflective pause at the end of the year that feels celebratory rather than performative.

Polarsteps Unpacked will be available in-app from 15 December. To unlock it, users need to have recorded at least one trip with content in the past year. For anyone who travelled even a little, it’s a reminder that those moments add up to more than you think.
