Fresh from a sold-out, critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2025, ROTUS: Receptionist Of The United States comes to London’s Park Theatre this January.

Written and performed by queer Irish-American comedian Leigh Douglas, the show is a razor-sharp, laugh-out-loud political satire that examines the women behind America’s corridors of power.

The play follows Chastity Quirke, a White House receptionist and staunch Republican, whose blind faith in the system begins to crack as she is forced to reckon with the consequences of her own complicity. Fiercely loyal, ambitious, and determined to rise through the ranks, Chastity’s journey charts a hilarious yet piercing exploration of ambition, morality, and the pressures faced by women operating within hardline conservative politics.

Leigh Douglas brings her signature wit and intelligence to the role, blending theatre, cabaret, and stand-up to create a performance that is at once funny, frightening, and disturbingly prescient. Under the direction of Fiona Kingwill, ROTUS combines inventive storytelling, original music, and a contemporary sensibility to deliver a portrait of loyalty, power, and conscience with sharp insight and vibrant humour.

Following an outstanding Fringe run, this timely satire promises to engage, entertain, and provoke discussion, offering audiences a witty, bold, and unforgettable look at the people who help hold power in place—and what happens when their worldview begins to shift.

ROTUS runs at Park Theatre from 20 January to 7 February 2026
