You would be forgiven for mistaking this year’s Met Gala for some kind of freak show or fancy dress party, (it is, Ed) especially with Jared Leto wearing a red diamante Gucci dress and carrying his own fake severed head, it’s no wonder his silver pointed toe boots got lost in the outfit.

Cardi B, decided to show off her post baby boob job and Liposuction by wearing a 10 foot merlot feathered gown, with a 10 foot train with a crimson beaded strip from crotch to her derriere which emphasised her tiny waist. Lady Gaga of course managed to top this with a bright pink parachute dress with a 25 foot train before stripping off to reveal two different dresses and later finishing her look in black fishnets and underwear with black sky high platform calf boots.

This year’s theme was Notes on ‘Camp’ and Anna Wintour’s co-hosts Harry Styles and Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michelle did not fail to impress in their flamboyant outfits which Harry finished off with black patent block high heeled Gucci loafer boots.  Dakota Johnson also showed support for Alessandro by wearing Gucci, as did Regina Hall and pioneering model and activist Bethann Hardison who wore black GG flats.

Also wearing chunky platform boots was Gigi Hadid, except hers were by Micheal Kors and blended seamlessly into her silver and gold bodysuit. Another fan of the matching boot look was Solage Knowles who wore thigh high Salvatore Ferragno snakeskin boots with a cute daring matching hot pant playsuit. Rami Malak opted for a loud YSL red and black striped pointed toe boot, whilst girlfriend Lucy Boyton wore a simple crystal embellished low heel.

Keeping within the camp theme there was a vast amount of glitter and sparkle on the ‘pink’ carpet. JLO who was head to toe in sparkle wore an iridescent silver ankle strap sandal with a pin thin 6 inch stiletto heel while Sarah Jessica Parker wore shoes from her own collection.

Newlyweds Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra wore matching silver shoes, her in Dior Moi pumps while he chose a glittery block heel boot by Louboutin, as did Bulgaria born Canadian actress Nina Dobrev who went for the silver glittery £545 Iriza Nappa Mica shoe. Gwen Steffani , Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and House of Cards actress Rachel Brosnahan also favoured Christian Louboutin, as well as Thai fashion guru Nichapat Suphap who wore a multi coloured “Faridarvavie” sandal to match her multi colour dress, whilst Penelope Cruz went with her favourite Prive peep toe that she has worn time and time again.

There was a big Jimmy Choo presence at this year’s Met Gala with Rupert Murdoch’s ex wife no 3, Wendy, looking stunning in a simply silver sandal, Lily-Rose Depp in gold and Tracee Ellis Ross in a very high black platform sandal.

Riverdale stars Charles Melton and Camila Mendes arrived hand in hand, she wowed in a canary yellow feathery dress and metallic blue Jimmy Choo sandals whilst co-star Madeline Petsch came dressed as Tinkerbelle wearing a pale turquoise platform sandal also by Choo. Singer song writer Charlie XCX also wore canary yellow with a gold sandal with thin chain detail straps, while Natasha Lyonne went with a simple white pump and a purse filled with cigarettes.

Lily Aldrige was also a fan of the Choo shoe in an open toe gold sandal, and Avengers actress Danai Guria had black thin strappy heels, while model Emily Ratajkowski wore a barely there sparkly sandal to match her barely there sparkly dress showing off her incredible figure.

There were a lot of sandals but the most notable were the calf high Rene Cavoilla cage black cut outs worn by 30 year old Puerto Rican super model Joan Smalls, which were accompanied by a Prabal Gurung lace dress that exposed her “killer abs” and a coordinating Gigi Burris head piece.

Candice Swanepoel was also dressed by Gurung and wore a pale blue Giuessepe Zanotti sandal with matching blue toenails. Emily Blunt made a grand entrance in a golden mermaid style Floral Michal Kors gown and matching Stephen Jones headpiece, which comprised of 510,000 sequins and 1,344 gold crystals, finished off with Gold custom made Sam Eldeman shoes.

American singer Ciara looked jaw dropping in her Gianvitto Rossi emerald green sandals with crystal embellishment and matching  custom made Peter Dunas gown, which was cut out at the sides exposing her toned oblique’s.

Perennial ‘victicrat’ Serena Williams made her entrance in a very loud yellow -nothing new, she’s infamous for her vulgar tennis garb. Ed- Versace gown with a bodice style top and puffy sleeves with long matching embroider cape covered in Pink leaves. She posed for photographers, showing off her fluorescent yellow Nike trainers on her feet which she later swapped out for thigh high boots, removing her skirt and exposing little bitty tight hot pants. Alessia Cava also went down the sneaker route with a pair of black Nikes with her outfit.

For me there was only one person that truly stole the show when it came to footwear and the crown can only go to Zendaya who proved she really was “The Greatest Showman”. Zendaya went all the way back to her childhood Disney Channel roots arriving with personal stylist Law Roach who was dressed as the Fairy Godmother and with a little bit of “Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo” and a wave of a smoking magic wand, transformed her into Cinderella, with a illuminated gown before everyone’s eyes.  In true Cinderella style, as she climbed the steps to the ball, she dropped and left her glass slipper on the carpet in the hope of finding her prince charming. Zendaya looked incredible at last year’s Gala, dressed as a modern day Joan of Arc in Versace with towering metallic platform heels, but this year’s glass slipper performance really was just the icing on the cake.
