South West London audiences don’t need to travel to the West End to experience chills and thrills. The Woman in Black – the only play where audience screams are not just allowed but expected – is coming to Richmond Theatre from Tuesday 25 November to Saturday 29 November 2025, with tickets from £15.
This legendary production of Susan Hill’s ghost story has been seen by over 8 million people worldwide and remains one of the longest-running plays in London’s history. It is a masterclass in controlled horror, relying not on spectacle but on atmosphere, illusion, sound, and lighting to unsettle and captivate audiences.
The story follows Arthur Kipps, a man haunted by a curse he believes has been cast on him and his family. He enlists a young actor to help tell his terrifying story, recreating the haunted world of Crythin Gifford with chilling precision. Every creak, shadow, and eerie note is designed to make audiences jump, while the sparse set leaves room for the imagination to fill in the horrors.
Richmond Theatre, one of London’s oldest surviving theatres, was designed by the iconic architect Frank Matcham and has been at the heart of the community since 1899.
Don’t miss your chance to see a play that has enthralled audiences for decades, a story of grief, curses, and the unseen forces that linger in the corners of our lives — and perhaps hear a scream or two along the way.
