The famous and glamorous have descended to Cannes for the 69th Cannes Film Festival opening night. The Cafe Society film was chosen to open the most glamorous and prestigious film festival in Europe – or perhaps even in the world.
The jury of the 69th Cannes Film Festival
The 69th Cannes Film festival is presided by the Australian director, screenwriter, and producer George Miller. He is surrounded by eight more ‘luminaries’ of world cinema representing countries like Iran, Denmark, United States, Italy, France, Canada, and Hungary. In total – four men and four women apart from the president of the jury. Their names are as follows:
- George Miller (Australia) – president
- Arnaud Desplechin (France)
- Kirsten Dunst (United States)
- Valeria Golino (Italy)
- Mads Mikkelsen (Denmark)
- László Nemes (Hungary)
- Vanessa Paradis (France)
- Katayoon Shahbi (Iran)
- Donald Sutherland (Canada)
The Red Carpet procession was long and star-studded. Celebrities, A-Listers, and models paraded down the red carpet and posed for photos.
The opening film Cafe Society
Cafe Society is written and directed by film director Woody Allen. In the 1930s, a Bronx native moves to Hollywood and falls in love with a young woman who is seeing a married man.
The cast includes Steve Carell, Jesse Eisenberg, and Kristen Stewart among others.
But before he and film cast had even walked down Cannes’ red carpet, old accusations that he routinely sexually abused his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow resurfaced in a magazine column written by her brother Ronan – follow in details here.
