Trevor Ashley and Phil Scott bring camp musical comedy Deep-Heat Rivalry to The Other Palace
A new musical comedy from Australian theatre-makers Trevor Ashley and Phil Scott will receive its London run at The Other Palace Studio from 11 September to 11 October 2026.
Written by Ashley and Scott, with Ashley also directing, Deep-Heat Rivalry is an adult parody that draws loose inspiration from professional ice hockey, combining musical theatre, camp humour and romantic comedy. At its centre are rival players Shane Hollandaise and Ilya Stroganoff, whose fierce sporting competition conceals an increasingly complicated love story.
Ashley, currently appearing in the Olivier Award-nominated production of The Producers at the Garrick Theatre, has built an international reputation through cabaret, drag performance and musical parody. Together with Scott, whose career spans more than four decades as a writer, composer and performer, he has created a series of productions that blend satire with large-scale theatrical entertainment.
The London cast is led by Sario Solomon (Grease) as Hollandaise and Jason Leigh Winter (Disney’s Hercules) as Stroganoff. They are joined by Ross Chisari (Moulin Rouge! The Musical) as Puck and Diana Vickers, whose recent stage work includes I Wish You Well and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, as The Diva.
The creative team includes choreographer Mitchell Harper, costume designer Angie White, set designer Reuben Speed and lighting designer Tom Boucher.
Presented at The Other Palace Studio, the production continues the venue’s commitment to developing new musical theatre, placing Ashley and Scott’s distinctly Australian brand of theatrical comedy before London audiences.
Deep-Heat Rivalry runs from 11 September to 11 October 2026, with previews from 11–15 September and press night on 16 September. The production is recommended for audiences aged 18+ and contains strong language, adult themes and nudity.
