First Look: New Production Images Released for Deep-Heat Rivalry at The Other Palace
Sario Solomon, Jason Leigh Winter, Ross Chisari and Diana Vickers star in Trevor Ashley and Phil Scott’s adult musical comedy, coming to The Other Palace Studio this September.
The first production images have been released for Deep-Heat Rivalry, the new adult musical comedy heading to The Other Palace Studio in London this autumn.
Written by Olivier Award nominee Trevor Ashley and Phil Scott, and directed by Ashley, the show takes the familiar territory of sporting rivalry and gives it a distinctly less sporting turn. Its central pair are professional ice hockey stars Shane Hollandaise and Ilya Stroganoff, whose fierce on-ice competition conceals a rather more complicated attraction.
Sario Solomon plays Hollandaise, opposite Jason Leigh Winter as Stroganoff. Ross Chisari joins them as Puck, while Diana Vickers appears as The Diva.
The cast brings considerable musical theatre experience to the production. Winter’s West End credits include Hercules, Moulin Rouge!, Frozen, Kinky Boots, Matilda, Wicked and Chicago. Solomon has appeared in productions including Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Grease, The Addams Family, If/Then and 13 The Musical, as well as Pacific Overtures at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
Chisari’s credits span West End, international and Australian productions, including Moulin Rouge!, Jersey Boys, A Chorus Line and Bonnie & Clyde. His screen work includes Netflix’s Geek Girl, while Vickers brings a career that has moved between pop music, television, comedy and the West End stage.
Vickers first became widely known through The X Factor, going on to release the UK number one album Songs from the Tainted Cherry Tree and its number one single “Once”. More recently, she has returned to the stage and built an online following through the comedy duo Ki and Dee. Her theatre credits include The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, Son of a Preacher Man, The Rocky Horror Show and I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical.
Behind the production are two performers and writers with a long history of irreverent musical comedy. Ashley is an Olivier Award-nominated actor, director, writer and cabaret performer whose work includes the cult Australian pantos Moulin Scrooge!, Fat Swan and The White Mermaid (or the Little Lotus). He has also created cabaret shows including Liza (on an E) and I’m Every Woman, which won a Sydney Theatre Award. He is currently appearing as Roger De Bris in the Olivier Award-nominated London production of The Producers.
Scott has spent more than four decades working across cabaret, theatre, television and music. He is best known in Australia as co-creator and star of The Wharf Revue for Sydney Theatre Company, and has collaborated with Ashley on a number of theatrical and cabaret productions.
Their new show takes its inspiration loosely from the world of ice hockey, but the sport itself is largely an excuse for the characters to collide. The production combines musical parody, romance, physical comedy and adult humour, with choreography by Mitchell Harper and design by Angie White, Reuben Speed and Tom Boucher.
Deep-Heat Rivalry runs for 75 minutes without an interval and is intended for audiences aged 18 and over, with strong language, adult themes and nudity.
The production opens at The Other Palace Studio on 11 September and runs until 11 October 2026.
