Following in the steps of composers such as Bach, Chopin and Rachmaninoff, Fabio is the first 21st century composer to write a set of 24 piano pieces that are set in each of the major and minor chromatic keys of the musical scale. Entitled “24”, this set of piano pieces has a unique, contemporary edge, as every piece has its own accompanying music video, making it the first-ever classical video album. Each film includes a message around ‘masks’ often depicting issues from our time including domestic abuse (Mel B), disability (Rose Leslie) and mental health (Russel Tovey).

Fabio says: “I am absolutely thrilled that Brunswick Art Gallery are exhibiting 24 in this way. It’s extremely progressive and crosses the boundaries of art and music in an unexpected way. I am excited to show visitors to the gallery the ‘big screen’ effect of my work. I am truly passionate about getting to the younger audiences and showing that classical music can be enjoyed in many different ways.”

Every music video features well-known actors and dancers who have a passion for contemporary music and the arts, allowing them to showcase their incredible acting ability through the medium of dance. Covering a wide spectrum of genres, the videos also feature dancers from The Royal Ballet, Rambert Dance Company, The London Contemporary Dance School, as well as leading commercial street-dance companies, choreographed by some of the best UK choreographers.

‘The Sleeping Beauty’ – one of the first videos from the series, directed by Fabio, showcased at numerous film festivals and has won over 20 international awards, including ‘Best Music Video’ at the prestigious LA Short Fest. ‘Love Should Not Hurt’, featuring Spice Girl Mel B, received unprecedented media coverage globally. Other famous actors who have participated in Fabio’s videos include Natalie Dormer and Ellie Bamber.

Overall, 24 is a set of aesthetically stunning videos and beautiful original piano music with which Fabio hopes to inspire younger generations and create a new love for contemporary dance and music. The videos depict a range of stories including social issues, the history of culture, and visual celebrations of the natural world, making contemporary classical music accessible to a diverse global audience.

You can see it at the Brunswick Art Gallery is in Brunswick Square, WC1N 1AE and is open 11am-17.30pm (16.00pm weekends)
