The Cannes Film Festival hosted the world premiere of Sam Levinson’s HBO original drama series The Idol, starring Lily-Rose Depp and co-creator Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye.

Co-created by Levinson and Reza Fahim, The Idol focuses on Jocelyn (Depp), an aspiring pop idol who, after having a nervous breakdown that causes her last tour to be canceled, resolves to reclaim her title as the sexiest pop star in America and begins a complex relationship with Tedros (Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye), a self-help guru and the head of a contemporary cult.

The series also stars Troye Sivan along with Dan Levy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean, Moses Sumney, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son and Hank Azaria.

Following the world premiere of the first two episodes of The Idol at Cannes’ Palais des Festivals, stars from the HBO Original drama series danced the night away at HBO’s official red carpet after party at the Palm Club Cannes. DJs Justice (DJ SET) and Mr. Saturday kept guests partying into the early morning.
