You can now buy one of London’s giant lion sculptures for £1,000
Twelve of the artist-designed lions from Westminster’s summer art trail are up for auction, with estimates reaching £5,000 and most proceeds going to charity.
The giant lions that have been appearing around Westminster this summer are now up for sale, with bidding starting at £1,000.
Twelve sculptures from the Pride in the Quarter trail are being auctioned, with estimates of up to £5,000. The sale runs until 2 September, giving bidders a few weeks to decide whether they really need a giant lion of their own.
The original free art trail featured 17 artist-designed lions and lionesses, installed across central London. Its 1.9 sq km route linked Trafalgar Square, St James’s Park and Victoria Tower Gardens, with further sculptures near Buckingham Palace and the Houses of Parliament.
Each sculpture was created by an artist and took inspiration from the Three Lions, while exploring themes including community, belonging and pride of place.

Now the sculptures are leaving the public realm. Once the auction closes, they are expected to be removed and transferred to their new owners.
Most of the proceeds will go to The Passage, the Westminster charity supporting people experiencing homelessness. One sculpture will raise money for Rays of Sunshine, which supports seriously ill children.
For anyone who has spent the summer walking past the lions, there is now a slightly unusual souvenir option: bid for one and take it home.
The auction runs until 2 September 2026. There are 12 lots, with bidding starting at £1,000.
