Jamie Lloyd’s Evita is heading to Broadway next spring, following its London run that became one of the most talked-about West End revivals of recent seasons.
The production, directed by Jamie Lloyd, reimagines the musical by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber in a stripped-down, performance-led style that puts the focus firmly on the cast and score rather than traditional staging.
Rachel Zegler will return as Eva Perón for the Broadway run, reprising a role that drew strong critical reaction in London and helped define the tone of the revival.
The transfer to New York follows the production’s engagement at the London Palladium, where Lloyd’s approach pushed the show away from large-scale spectacle and towards something more immediate and actor-driven. The Broadway staging is expected to adjust again for a different theatre and audience, rather than replicate the London version directly.
The creative team has indicated that elements of the production will be rethought for its New York home, with Lloyd describing the Broadway iteration as a chance to rework the staging rather than simply transplant it.

The musical remains anchored by its original score, including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina, Oh What A Circus and You Must Love Me, but this revival continues to lean into a more direct, less ornamental form of storytelling.
Further casting, venue details and ticket information for the Broadway production will be announced at a later date.
