On May 16th, 2018, the stars aligned in Cannes in support of Aids organisation amfAR. Hosted by NUiT App, the new astrology-based relationship app, the star-studded pre amfAR boat party at the luxurious Serenity yacht docked at Port Canto. Guests in attendance included Winnie Harlow, Nicole Scherzinger, Woody Harrelson, Adrien Brody, Piers Brosnan, Scottish actor Craig McGinlay and models Toni Garrn and Elsa Hosk among others. The stars came together to support vital Aids research, and to discover the newly launched NUiT app, which ‘encourages people to make meaningful connections by harnessing the power of astrology.’
More than 250 guests -including the Ikon team- walked the ‘black carpet’ to join host Militan Gatsby and DJ Michael Angelo on board the mega yacht Serenity, where they enjoyed an evening of champagne, live entertainment, with a surprise guest performance from Bedwin. On the evening, the aspiring and the almost-made-it mingled with the famous and successful. And while the majority of guests were happy to pose for the photographers, the likes of Winnie Harlow, Woody Harrelson, Elsa Hosk, and Pierce Brosnan rushed through the press boards either hiding their faces or looking away.
The emphasis was on glamour -booze- and fun, but the message was a serious one. The NUiT app founders have teamed up with amfAR to highlight their commitment to encouraging people to enjoy dating, without putting themselves at risk. Aids is still a worldwide killer, and amfAR is wholeheartedly committed to spear-heading change and making a difference. NUiT app founders believe that it is vital that dating services take responsibility for inspiring safe practices, and their pre-amfAR event celebrated this collaboration in stellar style.
The event was held amidst the general uncertainty about the popularity of the amfAR and Cannes Film Festival in general following Weinstein Sex Scandal. “The 71st Cannes Film Festival indeed saw fewer big names,” commented celebrity photographer and Cannes Film Festival frequent Joe Alvarez who was seen mingling with the guests after the official press board photos. “Even tonight, we were expecting more names who were confirmed on the list including Bella Hadid, Roberto Cavalli, The Weekend and Paris Hilton. They are all in Cannes but decided to stay away from the amfAR official pre-party”.
