As London’s arts scene continues to evolve, an exciting new venue is on the horizon: Sadler’s Wells East, opening in February 2025. Nestled within the vibrant Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, this venue is set to be a transformative force, blending community engagement with high-calibre performances.

Sadler’s Wells East represents a firm commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in the arts. With over 20 productions planned for its inaugural season—eight of which will be UK premieres—the venue will showcase a diverse range of dance styles that resonate with both local and international audiences. Notably, 20,000 tickets will be available for £25 or under, alongside £10 tickets for under-30s, ensuring that top-quality dance remains accessible to all.

The opening programme highlights a blend of local and global talent. Kicking off with Our Mighty Groove (Feb 6-9), choreographed by Vicki Igbokwe-Ozoagu, the production celebrates community dance, featuring local youth alongside professional dancers. This show sets the tone for a season that champions the stories and voices from east London, creating a platform for community participation and engagement in the art of dance.

Among the standout productions is ∞ {Infinite} (Feb 12-15) by HUMANHOOD, inviting audiences on a mystical journey through movement. Emma Martin’s Birdboy (Feb 20-22) promises a visceral exploration of isolation and self-discovery. The inclusion of She’s Auspicious (Feb 28-Mar 2), a bharatanatyam piece by Mythili Prakash, further reflects the venue’s dedication to showcasing diverse cultural narratives.

By collaborating with local educational institutions and community organisations, Sadler’s Wells East aims to nurture the next generation of dance artists. This initiative is supported by its flexible auditorium, which will adapt to various immersive experiences—from club nights to dance theatre—blurring the lines between performance and community engagement.
