New production images have been released from Ukraine Unbroken, the cycle of five short plays exploring twelve years of modern Ukrainian history. The production runs at the Arcola Theatre, Studio 1, until 28 March 2026.

The five plays chart the events from the Maidan protests of 2014 through Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022 and beyond, blending first-hand accounts, news headlines, and powerful music. Each story explores human resilience in the face of conflict, from a family trapped in Kyiv’s Hotel Ukraina to the fate of thousands of stolen children in wartime.

Ensemble cast members include Daniel Betts (To Kill a Mockingbird), Ian Bonar (Retrograde), Sally Giles (Value Engineering: Scenes from the Grenfell Inquiry), David Michaels (The 39 Steps), Clara Read (Matilda The Musical), and Jade Williams (The Father). All actors take on multiple roles across the five plays, portraying a variety of characters from Kyiv to the front lines of conflict.

The production also features live Ukrainian music performed by Mariia Petrovska on the bandura, adding a powerful soundtrack to the stories of resistance, survival, and courage.
