So many of us feel to dress for disguise which is not particularly surprising since especially for women judgment of our bodies kicks in before we reach a teenage age. From that time on we stop thinking solely about what we like and start taking into account the gaze of others. Can you think of ANY magazine that did not publish an article about how to “flatter your figure & dress best for your body shape”? Think again, have you gained anything from reading these articles a.k.a. waste of paper except lowered self-confidence and wrong body consciousness? If you did not notice it yet please pay extra attention. Whatever body shape you have, might it be as perfect as it can get, these articles do NOT support BUT criticize and lower your love and fun to play with fashion. If you are curvy you are instructed to dress to hide them. If you are thin they try to tell you that you should learn how to give the illusion to have curves.

I am a lover for the extreme, I am stick-thin, and love to dress to impress, inspire, excite and play. Kim Kardashian -leave alone loving or disliking her- would not be Kim Kardashian of such success today if she were following such paper wasting advice. If you do have issues feel free to conceal your dislikes and accentuate your liked assets as long as it gets the greatest amount of self confidence out of you.
But first, might start thinking about where those issues come from and if you might were better off working on your general self confidence instead of squeezing in Spanx and Victoria Secrets Bombshell push-up bras. There is no such thing as general taste or preference when it comes to body shape, but there is a general liking for confidence. It is THE secret weapon of them all. Nothing is sexier than self-confidence of the size of an aircraft hangar (of course without the terrible attitude a.k.a. arrogance that some people think they need to adapt as well, poor fellows). Everybody thinks they know it but oh so few people know how to work it. Learn to master it and you can even pull of a pair of Dr. Martens spiked boots under a petite Valentino. From own experience as well mastered by one of the best, Yves Saint Laurent, what is important in a dress is the woman who is wearing it. If you mastered such thinking and confidence you will soon be able to sell of your souvenir from yesterday’s drunken night out as designer bags under your eyes or even make it THE new make up trend.
Listen, fashion is meant to be debated; one person’s favorite dress is another person’s worst nightmare. Life is too short to blend in. But you should know the latest that your outfit is a real bad idea when passersby are actively looking for your tip jar.
Happy dressing!
