A London theatre is turning its audience into detectives this autumn, with a new musical murder mystery where theatregoers can question suspects, follow clues and decide who they believe is guilty.

The Pleasures of Fanny runs at Brick Lane Music Hall from 2 to 6 October, with an additional Sunday performance added following demand.

Set in 1940s London, the show follows the fictional Silvertown Lovies Amateur Group, known as the SLAGs, as they attempt to stage their latest musical comedy. But when a shocking murder throws the production into chaos, the line between fiction and reality begins to disappear.

Audiences will be invited to examine the evidence, question the suspects and compare their theories before deciding who they think is responsible.

The production is written by Shannon Rewcroft and Jack Pallister and stars Brick Lane Music Hall regulars including Vincent Hayes MBE, who founded the venue in 1992, Andrew Robley, Lucy Reed and Pallister. The cast also includes Anabelle Fage and Ross Tomlinson.

The 1940s theme extends beyond the stage. Dressing up is optional, but prizes will be awarded for the best period outfits.

Tickets start at £45, with options including afternoon tea, a three-course lunch or a three-course dinner, depending on the performance.

The show marks a new direction for Brick Lane Music Hall, where audience participation has long been part of the experience. The venue combines live music, comedy and variety entertainment with food and drink, creating a more informal alternative to a conventional theatre night.

The murder mystery is part of the venue’s 2026 autumn season, which also includes Cockney singalongs, Rat Pack classics, family storytelling and a new line-dancing event.
