London Fashion Week started earlier this season. Well, almost. Press and social media influencers attended the pre-fashion week press launch of Jasper Garvida’s Ethologie SS17 collection at the Ligne Roset showroom, Fitzrovia. Guests were treated to chilled drinks and abundance of canapes, including luxurious Artisan Caviar. The best part of the evening – Jasper Garvida himself of course and his amazing designs full on intricate details. I was always mesmerised by Jasper’s attention to details: from amazing long chiffon dresses with detailed sleeves in the SS16 collection to sequins on warmly knit cardigans in AW16, to hand finished embellished masterpieces in Ethologie SS17.
What’s in at Ethologie SS17
Think ‘city jungle’. Light silk and chiselled silhouettes, adorned with intricate printed patterns. Feathers and finest macramé like weaving are added to create extra texture to both barely there and long skirts. Long glass beads have found its place on mini dresses with multi-layered ruffled skirts. Leather and fur accessories by Sherene Melinda complemented the look perfectly.
On the press evening, the designer admitted to Ikon Magazine that he was working on the masterpieces until the last moment. Knowing Garvida’s approach to his craft, we wouldn’t be surprised to learn that the main statement piece of the show – the majestic peacock hem and collar were all assembled on the day of the show. But even under the pressure of time, Ethologie garments are always high-end couture.
