Belstaff AW16 womenswear collection was presented to a public in a decadent church One Marylebone, which most certainly provided a great backdrop to Belstaff new collection.
Leaving signature Belstaff parkas aside, the AW16 collection pleasantly surprised me with new biker themed leather outwear. For me, the black and red leather two-piece stole the attention of all guests, while the crackled off-white / tan suede biker jackets invited to revisit the Belstaff’s rugged moto heritage in a polar key. In keeping with the polar theme, many of the leather pieces come with a variety of fur-lined collars for added warmth.
In the knitwear department, we saw some graphic motocross inspires sweaters, with elbow patches or refined with elbow patches in gauze for second skin sweaters. A standout knitwear piece is cashmere cabled one-suit – a hybrid of a biker’s leather racing suit and a thermal onesie.
On overall, the presentation was great, even despite the tungsten downlights that didn’t always provide enough light. The Belstaff experiment with bright colours proved to be a success. Definitely, a way to go forward.
Head to New Bond Street this coming Autumn to get your Belstaff look.
