Vin & Omi AW16 London Fashion Week

I fell in love with Vin & Omi SS16 collection the very minute the first model stepped to the runway paved with wooden chips. The bright latex collection still stands fresh in my mind as if it was yesterday. This time, with their AW16 collection Vin & Omi had a hard task to top their own standards and deliver even more.

We saw about half a dozen ready-to-wear plain loose-fit dresses – all in various block colours and, as to me, they screamed for a bit more shape to them. Luckily, the English designers’ duo didn’t stop there and a few numbers later we saw some mind-boggling attitude designs in typical Vin & Omi style. Long lacquer coats paired with pants and trousers cord stitched as if right on models.

Having a history of incorporating unusual items from our daily life in their designs this time Vin & Omi very successfully re-invented cable ties. Yes, cable ties! Protruding out of the back and shoulders the designs have an eerie animalistic feel to them.

The collection is definitely not for your Sunday shopping but Vin & Omi have no doubt delivered the wow factor. As usual, the show was planned to a ‘t’ – colourful wigs and nail art complimented the collection creating one consistent image throughout the show. And a guest catwalk model was Jane Horrocks who debuted on the show to promote upcoming Brit flick  Absolutely Fabulous The Movie that is due to be released in July 2016. The trailer was released last Friday. The movie stars Horrocks, Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley and Joan Collins. Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Kim Kardashian and Abbey Clancy are set to appear in cameo roles as are Anya Hindmarch, Jean Paul Gaultier and Giles Deacon.

Horrocks wore a white Empire-waist dress adorned with feather embellishments. “I wanted to wear white,” added the actress, who donned a white wig. “And they said I could. But I didn’t know what it was going be. I only found out on Friday what it was and I loved it. I like the look, the hair. It was great.”
